The Kano State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, has led a high-level delegation on a Q3 and Q4 RMNCAEH+N Accountability Mechanism Integrated Supportive Supervision to the Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, Kano.
The supervision exercise focused on assessing the availability, management, and utilization of Family Planning commodities and Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF), with the aim of strengthening health service delivery for women, children, adolescents, the elderly, and improving overall nutrition care.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Yusuf explained that the exercise was designed to evaluate service delivery, ensure accountability, and identify gaps requiring urgent attention. He emphasized the importance of proper record-keeping, appropriate use of health commodities, and strict adherence to standard operating procedures to enhance service quality.
The Commissioner commended the hospital’s management and health workers for their dedication to providing quality healthcare services. He urged them to sustain the momentum, particularly in maternal and child health, family planning, and nutrition-related services.
As part of the supervision, the team inspected key facilities, reviewed service records, and engaged directly with healthcare workers, offering technical guidance and support where necessary.
The exercise forms part of the Kano State Government’s broader efforts to strengthen the healthcare system and improve the health and wellbeing of residents across the state.
