The Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), led by Comptroller Favour Adeyinka, has commenced activities for 2026 with a strategic engagement meeting with stakeholders and terminal operators within the command.
The meeting,was aimed at strengthening collaboration, improving compliance, and charting a sustainable path for more efficient customs operations in the new year.
In her opening remarks, Comptroller Adeyinka commended terminal owners, managers, and other stakeholders for their cooperation and contributions toward the successes recorded by the command in 2025.
She assured them of the command’s commitment to enhancing operations and deepening partnerships for the mutual benefit of all parties.
The Customs Area Controller emphasised the importance of developing a clear operational blueprint that would guarantee collective progress in 2026.
She urged terminal operators to strictly adhere to the Nigeria Customs Service’s standard procedures, noting that full compliance would ensure seamless cargo clearance.
“This engagement is to emphasise the critical importance of proper and complete documentation. Accurate paperwork is essential to ensure smooth and timely cargo clearance, reduce delays, and maintain full compliance with regulatory requirements,” Adeyinka stated.
She further highlighted the need for thorough physical examination of consignments and precise cargo classification, explaining that such measures are vital to prevent underpayment of duties, curb infractions, and promote transparency and efficiency in trade operations.
Addressing concerns raised by participants, the CAC assured stakeholders that challenges associated with transit shipment processes would receive due attention. She appealed for sustained cooperation and commitment from operators in supporting the objectives of the command and the Nigeria Customs Service at large.
The engagement reflects the command’s resolve to prioritise trade facilitation, compliance, and revenue generation while fostering a stronger relationship with the business community across Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi states.
