The Jigawa State Government has assured residents and the general public that it is actively engaged in addressing the case involving Walida Abdulhadi, an indigene of the state, amid growing public concern and reactions.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, the government said it has been fully aware of the matter since it first emerged and has taken proactive steps to ensure it is properly handled.
The government acknowledged the emotional significance of the case, particularly for Walida’s family and the people of Jigawa State, stressing that it is being treated with the seriousness it deserves.
According to the statement, the Jigawa State Ministry of Justice has been formally tasked with monitoring the case to ensure that all legal and administrative procedures are strictly followed. The ministry is also working closely with relevant authorities to protect the rights and interests of the affected citizen.
Governor Umar Namadi has personally intervened in the matter, engaging in high-level consultations with appropriate authorities alongside senior government officials. The aim, the statement noted, is to ensure that the case is handled fairly, transparently, and without unnecessary delay.
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and welfare of all Jigawa indigenes, describing it as a core responsibility of the administration.
While efforts to resolve the issue continue, the government expressed appreciation for the concern, solidarity, and prayers shown by citizens and appealed to the public to remain calm and allow due legal processes to take their course.
