NNPC Retail Limited has reinforced its commitment to gender inclusion and women’s empowerment with the successful hosting of the second edition of its flagship initiative, She-Fix 2.0, in Abuja.
The event, held on Saturday under the theme “Driving Diversity, Powering Progress,” brought together over 300 women professionals, entrepreneurs, young technicians, and key players in the energy industry.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, described inclusion as critical to national development and called for increased opportunities for women in technical and STEM-related fields.
She commended NNPC Retail for spearheading the initiative and urged stronger collaboration between government and the private sector to expand its reach.
In her keynote address, Sophia Mbakwe, Executive Vice President, Business Services at NNPC Limited, highlighted the growing influence of women across the organisation.
She noted that NNPC Retail, as the company’s primary interface with the public, plays a vital role in promoting diversity and inclusion.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of NNPC Retail Limited, Huub Stokman, represented by Valentina Kojo, Executive Director, Finance, stressed that women empowerment must go beyond rhetoric to become practical, visible, and sustainable.
The Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Limited, Andy Odeh, said women are increasingly shaping the future of the energy sector, noting that their leadership contributes significantly to organisational growth and societal development.
The She-Fix 2.0 programme featured panel discussions, live car care demonstrations, a marketplace for female-led businesses, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities.
Participants also benefited from promotional offers on Oleum Lubricants and NR-GAS LPG products.
A panel of prominent women drawn from energy, finance, technology, and corporate governance sectors shared insights during the event. They included Emmanuella Arukwe, Managing Director of NNPC Foundation; Maryamu Idris, Managing Director of NNPC Trading Limited and Nigeria’s OPEC National Representative; Oremeyi Akah, Chief Customer Officer at Interswitch Limited; Toyin Alasi, Founder and CEO of Money Wise International; and Adaeze Nwakoby, General Manager, Governance, Risk and Compliance at NNPC Retail Limited.
Organisers said the initiative builds on the success of its 2025 edition held in Lagos, reflecting a deliberate effort to expand its impact and create lasting opportunities for women across Nigeria’s energy value chain.
She-Fix 2.0 is part of NNPC Retail’s broader strategy to promote gender equity, strengthen inclusion, and support the growth of women in technical and professional fields nationwide.
