The Aminu Magashi Garba (AMG) Foundation has strengthened healthcare service delivery across 13 rehabilitation centres under the Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) by supporting a refresher training for frontline workers on drug dispensing, documentation, and psychosocial support for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
The one-day training, held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the SEMA Conference Hall in Kano, brought together 14 healthcare workers organised by SEMA in collaboration with the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
In his welcome address, the Executive Secretary of SEMA, Alhaji Isyaku Abdullahi Kubarachi, underscored the importance of building the capacity of healthcare workers to effectively respond to evolving humanitarian and health challenges.

He described the training as timely and critical to improving service delivery in rehabilitation centres.
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of AMG Foundation and Technical Adviser to the Ministry, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting SEMA’s mandate.
He revealed that the Foundation had recently visited six rehabilitation centres, where it donated food items and essential drugs, with plans to extend similar support to the remaining centres.
Dr. Magashi also outlined key areas of continued support from the Foundation, including strengthening collaboration among SEMA, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and other partners; providing identification jackets for trained healthcare workers; enhancing data collection, monitoring, and evaluation systems; developing a central monitoring dashboard for SEMA; and advocating for improved emergency response tools and infrastructure.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Head of Operations, NEMA Kano Office, Dr. Nura Abdullahi; the Director-General of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (KASPA), represented by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Mallam Rabi’u Ibrahim; and the Senior Special Assistant to the Kano State Governor on Support Groups III, Hon. Muttaka Sani Gaya.
Declaring the training open, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Hadi Bala, urged participants to actively engage in the sessions to improve their knowledge and service delivery outcomes.
Technical sessions during the training were facilitated by SEMA Medical Officer, Dr. Abdullahi Abdullahi, and the Coordinator of the Vulnerable People Support and Development Initiative (V-PeSDI), Mallam Aftahna Dahiru Sarina.
In his closing remarks, Kubarachi commended participants for their commitment and active participation, noting that the training would enhance their effectiveness.
He also appreciated the AMG Foundation for its sustained support in strengthening healthcare services within SEMA rehabilitation centres.
