Residents of Makoda local government area Kano, were thrown into mourning following the drowning of three students at Tomas Dam,located between Makoda and Dambatta.
Reports indicate that the three students of Audu Bako college of Agriculture Dambatta, Ibrahim Abubakar Sunusi, and Salisu Ado boarded a boat which capsized in the middle of the river.

The public relations officer Kano state fire service Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi pointed out that,Dambatta fire station recieved a rescue call and mobilized a team where they succeeded in rescuing 21 year old Ibrahim alive.
He stressed that the other two victims 22 year old Abubakar Sunusi and 21 year old Salisu Ado were retrieved by local fisherman unconscious where doctors from Dambatta general hospital confirmed their death.

Saminu explained that,Ibrahim is currently recieving medical at the hospital while the deceased were handed over to their parents for burial according to Islamic rites.
