The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kebbi State Council, has congratulated the Emir of Gwandu and Chairman of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, on the occasion of his 21st anniversary on the throne.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Bello Sarki Abubakar, and the Secretary, Comrade Ismail Adebayo, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.
The Council described the Emir’s 21 years of leadership as a period characterized by wisdom, dedication, peacebuilding, and an unwavering commitment to the development of the Gwandu Emirate and Kebbi State as a whole.
According to the NUJ, the monarch has made significant contributions toward promoting unity, peaceful coexistence, cultural preservation, and socio-economic development among the people of the state.
The Council noted that the Emir has continued to provide exemplary leadership and fatherly guidance on issues affecting the welfare of his subjects and the broader interests of the nation.
The journalists’ body also acknowledged the traditional ruler’s support and cooperation with media practitioners in Kebbi State, describing his relationship with the press as instrumental in fostering the dissemination of credible information and promoting public enlightenment.
The NUJ further commended the Emir for his enduring commitment to strengthening traditional institutions and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing peace and stability across the state.
As the revered monarch marks the milestone anniversary, the Council prayed for Almighty Allah to grant him continued good health, wisdom, strength, and a long, prosperous reign.
It also expressed hope that the Emir would continue to provide the visionary leadership that has distinguished his reign over the past two decades and one year.
The Council joined family members, traditional rulers, government officials, and other well-wishers in celebrating the occasion, describing it as a significant milestone in the history of the Gwandu Emirate and Kebbi State.
