President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a final six-month tenure extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi.
The extension, which takes effect after the expiration of his current tenure on August 1, 2026, will run until February 2027.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the extension is intended to enable Adeniyi to consolidate the implementation of the National Single Window initiative and ensure a smooth leadership transition within the Customs Service.

President Tinubu appointed him Comptroller-General of Customs in June 2023, a position he has held while leading reforms aimed at modernizing customs operations and enhancing trade facilitation.
