The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Enlightenment, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, has said the Federal Government is implementing impactful development projects across Nigeria that are creating jobs, improving livelihoods, and stimulating economic growth in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Abdulaziz stated this, while flagging off the Northern Nigeria Projects Inspection Tour, an initiative aimed at showcasing ongoing and completed Federal Government projects across the region that have received limited public attention despite their strategic importance to national development.
The inspection tour commenced in Kano State with visits to key infrastructure projects, including the Kano-Maradi Railway Interchange Station Zawaciki, the Northern Bypass in Gezawa LGA, the Medical Emergency Centre at AKTH, the Renewed Hope Grid project at AKTH, as well as NASENI project at Bayero University, Kano.
Speaking during the inspection, Abdulaziz described the Kano-Maradi Railway as one of the FG’s flagship infrastructure projects, noting that it would significantly improve regional connectivity, facilitate cross-border trade, and strengthen economic relations between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.
He explained that the Kano Interchange Station serves as a major transport hub linking rail services to Daura and Dutsinma in Katsina, Kazaure in Jigawa State, and onward to the Niger Republic and other parts of Nigeria.
According to him, construction of the railway has exceeded 80 per cent completion, particularly in track laying and station development.
Abdulaziz also highlighted the strategic importance of the 48-kilometre Kano Northern Bypass, describing it as a critical infrastructure project that connects the Kano- Hadejia Road with the Kano-Katsina Road, providing an alternative route to ease traffic congestion within Kano metropolis while opening up new corridors for economic development.
He noted that the bypass has already begun attracting industries, factories, and private investors acquiring land along the corridor, thereby creating employment opportunities for both skilled and unskilled workers in surrounding communities.
The Presidential aide added that the Medical Emergency Centre and the project at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital would significantly enhance healthcare delivery by providing reliable emergency services and sustainable electricity to support medical operations.
He commended President Tinubu for sustaining the projects through adequate funding, noting that the pace of execution reflects the administration’s commitment to timely delivery of critical infrastructure across the country.
Abdulaziz said the inspection tour would continue across the 19 Northern states to document and publicise major projects being implemented under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
