Nigeria’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Abdulrahman Dambazau, has received the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Umar Dunoma, and his delegation at the Embassy of Nigeria in Beijing ahead of a key bilateral meeting with Chinese officials.
Ambassador Dunoma is in China to participate in the Inter-Governmental Political and Diplomatic Sub-Committee Meeting with officials of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed at strengthening diplomatic cooperation and advancing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the reception, Ambassador Dambazau welcomed the Permanent Secretary and his delegation, assuring them of the embassy’s full support towards ensuring a successful outcome of the high-level engagement.
The visit also provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on the state of Nigeria-China relations and ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation in diplomacy, trade, investment, infrastructure, technology and other areas of mutual interest.
According to a statement issued by the Media Unit of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the engagement reflects the strong and growing partnership between Nigeria and China as both countries continue to expand cooperation across critical sectors.
The statement noted that the visit also demonstrates the close coordination between the Nigerian Embassy in Beijing and the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in implementing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives.
It added that the collaboration is expected to strengthen institutional ties and enhance diplomatic engagement in pursuit of shared interests between both countries.
The ministry further stated that Ambassador Dambazau remains committed to promoting effective diplomacy, fostering strategic partnerships and advancing Nigeria’s national interests through sustained engagement with Chinese authorities.
The Inter-Governmental Political and Diplomatic Sub-Committee Meeting forms part of the regular bilateral consultation mechanism established to deepen political dialogue and strengthen cooperation between Nigeria and China.
Officials of both countries are expected to deliberate on issues relating to diplomacy, economic cooperation, investment, infrastructure development, technology transfer and other areas aimed at enhancing the longstanding relationship between Abuja and Beijing.
The meeting is also expected to reinforce ongoing efforts to expand mutually beneficial partnerships and explore new opportunities for collaboration in line with the development priorities of both countries.
The Nigerian delegation expressed optimism that the engagements would further consolidate bilateral relations and contribute to the advancement of Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives.
