The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) to strengthen collaboration in peacebuilding, research, capacity development and strategic policy engagement.
The agreement was formalised during a visit by a delegation from the Federal University Lokoja, led by its Vice-Chancellor, Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, to the Institute’s headquarters.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Director-General of IPCR, Joseph Ochogwu, reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that promote national peace, conflict prevention and sustainable development.
Ochogwu said the collaboration would focus on strategic conflict assessment, joint research, West African studies, capacity-building programmes and research opportunities through the TETFund initiative.
He noted that the partnership aligns with IPCR’s mandate of generating evidence-based solutions to emerging peace and security challenges while strengthening institutional capacity through collaboration with academic institutions.
In his remarks, Vice-Chancellor Professor Ibileye commended IPCR for its leadership in peacebuilding and conflict resolution, describing the partnership as a significant step towards advancing research and knowledge exchange.
He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to fully implementing the Memorandum of Understanding and expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of both institutions and the country.
The partnership highlghts the shared commitment of IPCR and the Federal University Lokoja to developing practical, research-driven solutions that promote peace, security and sustainable development in Nigeria.
