The Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, and the Director General of the Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA), Pharm. Gali Sule, have been honoured with Awards of Excellence by the Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP) in recognition of their outstanding contributions to healthcare delivery and the pharmaceutical sector.
The awards were presented during the 13th Annual Symposium and Business Summit of NAIP, Kano Zone, held under the theme: “Ensuring Sustainable Medicine Availability in Kano Amidst Economic Stagnation Through Local Production, Strategic Procurement, and ARC_ESM Support.”
Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf attended the event as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Kano State Ministry of Health, Pharm. Kamilu Mudi Salisu, served as the Chief Host. The National Chairman of NAIP, Pharm. Aminu Bankole Ezebuilo, hosted the summit.
The Kachallan Kano, Pharm. Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai, chaired the occasion as Royal Father of the Day, while the Chief Executive Officer of the Africa Resource Centre for Excellence in Supply Chain Management (ARC_ESM), Dr. Azuka Okeke, delivered the keynote address.
The summit brought together key stakeholders in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors to discuss strategies for ensuring sustainable medicine availability in Kano State through local pharmaceutical production, strategic procurement, and strengthened supply chain systems.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Director General of DMCSA, Pharm. Gali Sule, the Technical Adviser to the agency and former Director of Drugs and Supply, Pharm. Tukur Ibrahim, as well as other senior government officials, pharmacists, industry leaders and healthcare professionals.
The symposium served as a platform for stakeholders to explore practical solutions to medicine supply challenges while strengthening collaboration to improve access to quality healthcare and pharmaceutical services across Kano State.
