The Kano State Police Command has announced the collapse of the Yaryasa Bridge in Tudun Wada Local Government Area following heavy rainfall, warning motorists to exercise caution and use alternative routes.
The bridge, which serves as a major link between Kano and neighbouring states such as Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, and parts of eastern Nigeria, gave way after days of downpour.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, confirmed that immediate safety measures had been taken to prevent accidents and safeguard road users.
According to the statement, barricades, detours, and warning signs have been installed to redirect traffic, while the area around the collapsed bridge has been cordoned off.

Police officers from the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) are working alongside personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), and members of the Transport Union to manage traffic flow and ensure order.
“Motorists traveling towards Tudun Wada and beyond are advised to cooperate with traffic officers and follow the designated alternative routes to avoid risks to life and property,” CP Bakori said.
The Police Commissioner also appealed for patience and compliance with traffic guidelines, assuring the public that the Command is working closely with relevant agencies to reduce the impact of the disruption.
He noted that further updates, will be communicated as the situation develops.
