The Gombe State University (GSU) Alumni Association has donated 60 lecterns and four whiteboards to the University as part of its commitment to enhancing teaching and learning facilities.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Association, Malam Abubakar Ibrahim Difa, highlighted the importance of lecterns in improving lecture delivery and creating a more conducive environment for academic activities.
He also stressed the critical role alumni play in supporting their alma mater and contributing to its sustained growth and development.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Association, the President of the Gombe State University Alumni Association, Dr. Buhari Magaji, explained that the donation was aimed at addressing key instructional needs within the institution.
He reaffirmed the Association’s dedication to supporting initiatives that promote the University’s advancement and subsequently handed over the items to the Vice-Chancellor.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, expressed deep appreciation to the Association for its generosity and continued support.
He noted that the few lecterns currently in use across the University’s lecture halls were also donated by the Alumni Association, describing the latest intervention as further evidence of its enduring commitment to the institution.
Professor Yauta emphasized that the University belongs to its alumni and encouraged them to sustain their contributions toward its development. He immediately directed that the newly donated lecterns be distributed to lecture halls across the campus for immediate use.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Danladi M. Umar; the Registrar, Dr. Aliyu Abubakar Bafeto; the Bursar, Mr. Hussaini Shehu; Director of ICT, Dr. Aliyu D. Hinna; Director of Academic Planning, Professor A.D. Bajoga; Head of Department of Physics, Professor M.L. Madugu; pioneer President of the Alumni Association, Malam Isa Ya’u; and other members of the Association’s executive committee.
The donation reflects the Alumni Association’s continued efforts to support the University’s academic mission and improve learning conditions for students and lecturers alike.
