The Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up (NFWP-SU) is set to engage no fewer than 90,000 women across three local government areas in Kebbi State, as part of efforts to strengthen women’s economic empowerment and reduce financial exclusion.
The State Project Coordinator, Alhaji Yakubu Muhammad Yauri, disclosed this during an inspection of the ongoing recruitment exercise for ward facilitators in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area.
According to him, ward facilitators play a crucial role in mobilizing women at the grassroots level for the intervention.
He noted that the NFWP-SU, a Federal Government initiative implemented through the Federal and State Ministries of Women Affairs, seeks to enhance women’s access to credit, markets, financial literacy, and sustainable livelihoods.
Yauri explained that the scale-up phase will target Birnin Kebbi, Dandi, and Zuru LGAs, where a total of 360 ward facilitators will be engaged.
Each facilitator is expected to mobilize between 180 and 250 women, contributing to the overall target across the three benefiting LGAs.
He commended the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for providing a conducive environment that has positioned the state as one of the top-performing implementing states in the country.
The Coordinator also appreciated the support of the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development for ensuring that the project adheres to standard operating procedures and remains focused on delivering its intended impact.
