GHIV Africa has commenced preparations for the implementation of the UNICEF-supported Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) project focused on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and nutrition interventions in Magumeri.
As part of the pre-implementation process, the organization visited one of the benefiting communities in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State and held a strategic stakeholder engagement meeting with community leaders to assess pressing humanitarian needs.

The meeting provided a platform for open dialogue, allowing residents and traditional leaders to identify major gaps in access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and nutrition services within their communities.
In addition to engaging community leaders, the GHIV Africa team also met with key government health stakeholders, including Yagana Mohammed and Lawan Yaumi, who both corroborated the concerns raised by the communities.
The discussions highlighted the urgent need for coordinated and multi-sectoral interventions to improve WASH and nutrition outcomes across the local government area.
Following the meetings, the Bulama of Kajeri, Bulama Kaje, and the Bulama of Lawanti, Bulama Abubakar, accompanied the GHIV Africa team on an assessment tour of Lawanti and Kajeri communities.

During the tour, community leaders physically guided the team to damaged latrines requiring rehabilitation as well as boreholes in urgent need of repair, providing firsthand evidence of critical infrastructure gaps affecting residents.
According to GHIV Africa, the community-led assessments and consultations with local government health authorities will directly shape the design and implementation of interventions under the UNICEF-RRM project to ensure they are targeted, sustainable, and responsive to local realities.
The organization reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with traditional institutions, government officials, and humanitarian partners to improve access to WASH and nutrition services and restore dignity, health, and hope to vulnerable communities in Magumeri.
