The Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a detribalized Nigerian and true nationalist whose infrastructure projects cut across every region of the country.
Goronyo made the remark while inspecting the Kebbi section of the ongoing Lagos–Badagry Superhighway project, where he expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded so far.
According to the Minister, the project is already opening up a major trade corridor that will drive economic growth once completed.
“You can see that Hightech has completed almost four kilometres of reinforced concrete. They have also cleared nearly 64 kilometres and finished the filling of 15 kilometres,” he said.
He added that solar streetlights have been installed on parts of the road and confirmed that the four kilometres completed so far cover both lanes of the dual carriageway.
Goronyo praised President Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure delivery, describing the highway as a generational project designed to stand for decades.
“You can imagine a road constructed from Illela, near the Niger Republic border, all the way to Lagos, linking the sub-Saharan region. This will create great economic opportunities,” he said.
“Mr President is not just constructing roads; he is building highways that will last 50 years or more.”
The Minister noted that the project will create thousands of jobs, reduce insecurity, and open up new economic prospects for communities along the route.
Goronyo also used the opportunity to appeal to Northerners ahead of the 2027 elections, urging them not to be misled. He emphasized that although the project originated during the Shagari administration, it remained unrealized until President Tinubu revived and funded it.
“You don’t need a rocket scientist to know that this road requires a huge amount of money to build. This shows the President’s love, concern, and commitment to a united and prosperous Nigeria,” he stated.
He concluded by affirming that President Tinubu has started strongly and, with continuity, will “take the country to the promised land.”
