The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA), through its Rapid Response Team, has facilitated continued specialist treatment and referral for Hafsat Muhammad, a 21-year-old woman diagnosed with systemic scleroderma with cutaneous manifestations.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer KSCHMA Aminu Ahmad Turaki made available to newsmen in Kano.

According to him, the intervention followed her enrollment into the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Scheme on the directive of the Executive Secretary, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar.
He said since then, the patient has undergone comprehensive evaluation at various levels of care in accordance with established clinical guidelines and specialist recommendations.
The public relations officer explained that, medical assessments, including neurology consultations, revealed progressive symptoms such as skin tightening, joint contractures, difficulty in swallowing, hyperpigmentation, limb pain, and swelling features consistent with autoimmune connective tissue disease.
Aminu pointed out that, Neurology clinic records confirmed a working diagnosis of systemic scleroderma with connective tissue involvement, while other conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) were ruled out.
“She has since been placed on immunomodulatory and supportive therapy, alongside a detailed investigation plan involving laboratory tests, imaging, and specialist follow-up”
The statement hinted in that, line with expert recommendations, the KSCHMA Rapid Response Team has now coordinated her referral to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital (MMSH) for multidisciplinary management.

The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to supporting patients with chronic and complex medical conditions through structured enrollment, prompt referrals, and collaboration with secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities across Kano State.
