The Kano State Accountability Forum on Education (K-SAFE) has stepped up efforts to strengthen collaboration with key stakeholders in the education sector following an advocacy visit to Community Aid Connect.
The delegation, led by K-SAFE Co-Chair (CSOs), Dr. Auwalu Halilu, was received by the Kano State Team Lead of Community Aid Connect, Malam Surajo Mahe Alkali, during the visit held on Monday in Kano.
The visit forms part of K-SAFE’s broader engagement with development partners aimed at improving access to inclusive and quality education across the state.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Halilu commended Community Aid Connect for its contributions to enhancing literacy and numeracy through innovative programmes, including the DARASI initiative and the Community Radio Literacy and Numeracy Programme.
He noted that the initiatives provide flexible learning opportunities, particularly for vulnerable and underserved learners with limited access to formal education.
In his remarks, Malam Alkali highlighted the impact of the DARASI Programme in strengthening foundational learning, as well as the effectiveness of radio-based education in reaching remote and hard-to-access communities.
Both parties emphasised the importance of community participation, stakeholder coordination, and sustained advocacy in addressing learning gaps and improving educational outcomes.
They also identified areas of collaboration, including joint advocacy campaigns to promote enrolment and retention, partnerships on radio-based awareness initiatives, strengthening monitoring and accountability mechanisms, and capacity building for community-based education structures.
Other areas of collaboration include documentation of programme outcomes to support policy dialogue and education sector planning in Kano State.
The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of both organisations to improving access, equity, and quality of education, while promoting innovative solutions to boost literacy and numeracy across the state.
