The Kebbi State Government says it has recorded significant infrastructural transformation across the state within the last three years under the administration of Governor Nasir Idris.
The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Abdullahi Umar Faruk, made this known during an Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing organised by the Ministry of Information held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ultra-Modern Secretariat Complex in Birnin Kebbi.
He said that between June 2023 and April 2026, the Ministry of Works executed and supervised numerous landmark projects covering road construction, rehabilitation, bridges, drainage systems, and public buildings aimed at improving living standards across the state.
According to him, completed projects include the dualisation of the Birnin Kebbi–Ambursa Road, rehabilitation of 30 kilometres of township roads in Birnin Kebbi, rehabilitation of Yauri township roads, completion of internal road networks within the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ultra-Modern Secretariat Complex, and the dualisation of the Argungu Old Bye-Pass Road.
He further explained that the administration also delivered emergency flood intervention projects, construction of culverts and retaining walls, road expansion works, and rehabilitation of critical infrastructure across different parts of the state to improve transportation and support economic activities.
The Commissioner disclosed that ongoing projects include the reconstruction of the Koko–Mahuta–Dabai Road, dualisation of Abdulsalami Road in Jega, rehabilitation of Ahmadu Bello Way in Gwandu, construction of access roads and drainage systems at the Badariya MOPOL Barracks, as well as the Kamba–Kwakkwaba–Sarfu–Banizumbu Road project.
He also noted that the rehabilitation of the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport and the construction of a modern fuel dump had restored full operations at the facility, leading to its selection by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for the inaugural 2024 Hajj airlift operations.
According to him, the rehabilitation and modernisation of major roads in Birnin Kebbi have transformed the state capital into a more modern urban centre, improving traffic flow, aesthetics, and economic opportunities for residents and investors.
