The 10th NSTOP Vaccine-Preventable Diseases (VPDs) Short Course has officially concluded after 10 days of intensive learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among health professionals and stakeholders.
Certificates were presented to participants in recognition of their dedication and successful completion of the programme.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Patrick Nguku of African Field Epidemiology Network AFENET expressed appreciation to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for its continued support.
He urged participants to apply the knowledge acquired during the training to improve health outcomes and strengthen community trust in immunisation programmes.
Also speaking, Ada Ogee-Nwakwo of the US CDC Nigeria Country Office described the training as a call to action, stressing the need for vigilance, collaboration, and sustained commitment toward polio eradication and stronger immunisation systems.
Gidado also commended participants for their dedication and active engagement throughout the course.
The training brought together 74 participants from national and international institutions and featured over 30 resource persons from organisations including the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), US CDC, World Health Organization, United Nations Children’s Fund, and eHealth Africa.
The organisers described the programme as a decade-long effort focused on advancing health security and strengthening healthcare systems through workforce excellence.
