Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has pledged that the state government will take full responsibility for the education and welfare of the children of the late Ummulkhairi Usman Aliyu, who was allegedly killed under tragic circumstances.
The governor made the commitment during a condolence visit to the deceased’s family in Maraban Jos, Kaduna, where he met with her husband, Malam Aliyu, and other family members to express his sympathies.
Governor Sani assured the bereaved family that his administration remained committed to ensuring justice, stressing that all those responsible for the killing would be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
He disclosed that 41 suspects have been charged to court for culpable homicide, while another 30 suspects are facing charges of unlawful assembly in connection with the incident.
According to the governor, 17 individuals initially arrested during the investigation have been released after they were found not culpable, while 41 other suspects remain under investigation as security agencies continue efforts to apprehend additional persons believed to be involved.
He further assured the family that investigations were ongoing and warned that any police officer found to have been directly or indirectly complicit in the incident would face the full weight of the law.
Governor Sani said the Kaduna State Government’s intervention would go beyond offering condolences, noting that the state would provide educational and welfare support for the children left behind by the deceased.
He also prayed for the repose of Ummulkhairi’s soul and urged her family to remain steadfast during the difficult period.
The governor reiterated that his administration would continue to pursue justice and ensure that all those connected with the incident are held accountable in accordance with the law.
