Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, on Thursday presented a proposed 2026 Appropriation Bill of ₦642,930,818,157.99 to the State House of Assembly, describing it as a “Budget of Transformations and People’s Empowerment.”
Presenting the fiscal proposal before lawmakers, Governor Idris highlighted key allocations aimed at strengthening security, improving infrastructure and supporting education. He announced that ₦3 billion has been earmarked for the state’s Security Trust Fund, while ₦30 billion is proposed for the Koko–Mahuta–Dabai road project one of the state’s major infrastructural priorities.
The Governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining scholarship programmes for Kebbi students in 2026.
According to the budget breakdown, capital expenditure stands at ₦479,357,504,041.27, representing about 75% of the total proposal, while recurrent expenditure is pegged at ₦163,573,314,116.82, accounting for 25%.
“This is a budget of growth, empowerment and progress,” Governor Idris said, urging the legislature to ensure a speedy consideration and passage. “I hereby commit this budget to the House for quick passage.”
In his remarks, Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, assured the Governor that the Assembly would pass the budget within one week, in line with its commitment to supporting the state’s development agenda.
