The Customs Area Controller (CAC) in charge of Cross River/Calabar Free Zone Command and Akwa Ibom, Comptroller Momodu Dauda, has paid a working visit to the Tinapa Free Zone, pledging continued support for trade facilitation and investment protection.
The visit,was aimed at obtaining first-hand insight into operational activities within the zone, assessing compliance with Customs laws and strengthening collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and Free Trade Zone operators.
Addressing stakeholders, Comptroller Momodu reiterated the commitment of the Service to creating a conducive business environment while maintaining a firm stance against smuggling and other economic crimes.
He stressed that trade facilitation, protection of investments and enforcement of regulations remain core principles of the NCS.
“These objectives define the mandate of the Service, and ensuring their effective implementation is our obligation,” he said.
In his remarks, the General Manager of Tinapa Resort and Free Trade Zone, Dr. Frances Ekom, expressed optimism about the gradual revival of the facility after over 15 years of challenges. He attributed the renewed progress to increased stakeholder commitment and collaboration.
Dr. Ekom commended the efforts of the Nigeria Customs Service in repositioning Tinapa for greater economic impact, noting that the engagement of the command has contributed significantly to restoring investor confidence.
Comptroller Momodu also pledged to align the command with the policy direction of the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, through effective implementation of his mandate.
He assured stakeholders of sustained professionalism and engagement, adding that the command would remain focused on revenue generation, trade facilitation and border security in line with its statutory responsibilities.
“The command under my watch will continue to give its best in fostering economic growth and supporting the vision of the Service,” he affirmed.
