The Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Binta Adamu Bello, has reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to partnering with international counterparts to tackle human trafficking and protect Nigerian victims abroad.
Speaking at NAPTIP’s headquarters, Bello welcomed a joint delegation from Cabo Verde, comprising officials from the country’s Migration Management Institution and the National Observatory on Trafficking in Persons.
The delegation was led by Mr. Omaru Djalo Abreu, Project Manager at the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) in Cabo Verde.
Bello highlighted that human trafficking is a global menace, affecting people across races and continents, and emphasized the importance of international cooperation and collaboration to effectively address the issue.
Mr. Abreu, the leader of the delegation, explained that the visit aimed to understand NAPTIP’s operational model, explore the structure that makes the Agency a unique counter-trafficking institution in Africa, and learn best practices that could be adapted in Cabo Verde.
He also stressed the intention to initiate sustained collaboration and strengthen working relationships with NAPTIP.
The visit featured an interactive session where both parties shared ideas and exchanged critical information to enhance efforts in combating human trafficking in their respective countries.
