The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its sustained campaign against terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes through intelligence-led policing.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
According to the statement, operatives of the Kangiwa Divisional Police Headquarters, acting on credible intelligence, arrested two suspects — Hamza Aliyu and Aliyu Ahmadu — on February 7, 2026, along the border axis. The suspects were allegedly involved in supplying logistics to suspected Lakurawa terrorists.
Police said the suspects were found in possession of 31 parcels of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp at the time of their arrest.
In a related development, operatives of the Command’s Special Tactical Team, in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, arrested two other suspects identified as Sani Bature, also known as “Nage,” and Rabiu Bature during a separate operation in Bagudo Local Government Area.
The operation led to the recovery of one AK-49 rifle, 611 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and a locally fabricated bullet-proof vest believed to be charmed.
SP Bashir stated that all suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadeija, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the state. He also called on members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to enhance security operations.
The Command assured residents of its resolve to sustain aggressive operations aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property in Kebbi State.
