Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has flagged off the distribution of 100,000 bags of 10kg rice donated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation to support vulnerable and underprivileged residents across the state.

The initiative is aimed at easing the hardship faced by many households, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, when the demand for food items typically increases.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday in Kano by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Governor Yusuf, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Faruk Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the foundation for the humanitarian gesture.
He described the donation as timely, noting that it would complement the state government’s ongoing interventions aimed at improving the welfare of the less privileged.
According to him, the support will help cushion the impact of economic hardship on vulnerable groups across communities in the state.
The governor assured that the distribution process would be carried out in a transparent and accountable manner through established community structures and relevant stakeholders to ensure that the rice reaches the intended beneficiaries.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Danjuma Mahmud, commended the Dangote Foundation for entrusting the state government with the responsibility of overseeing the distribution.
He said the confidence shown in the administration reflects recognition of the government’s commitment to ensuring that relief materials reach those who need them most.
The distribution is expected to benefit thousands of vulnerable households across Kano State as part of ongoing humanitarian support during Ramadan.
