Speaking during the event, the Director of Disease Control and Immunization, Dr. Mustafa Abdullahi, emphasized that tuberculosis remains a serious health concern but is entirely curable. He reminded residents that free testing and treatment services are available across the state.
Dr. Abdullahi attributed the increased case detection in recent years to expanded community screening initiatives, supported by partners including the Global Fund.
Highlighting further progress, TB/HIV Specialist Dr. John Tunde Aremu noted improvements in diagnosis and a reduction in stigma surrounding the disease, which have encouraged more residents to seek treatment.
