Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State said the growing relations between Nigeria and Poland signal a new phase of economic and academic cooperation, particularly for the state.
Governor Soludo made this known while hosting Poland’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Cygan, at the Government House in Awka.
The ambassador was in the state to attend the convocation ceremony of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU).
Speaking at the Light House in Awka, the governor commended Poland’s economic transformation, describing it as a model Nigeria can learn from.
According to him, Poland’s development trajectory shows that a self-sustaining economy is achievable through deliberate and strategic reforms.
Governor Soludo also positioned Anambra as one of Nigeria’s leading investment destinations outside Lagos and Abuja, urging Polish investors to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the state.
He emphasized the need for partnerships anchored on long-term sustainable growth.
In his remarks, Ambassador Michael Cygan acknowledged that Poland’s academic engagement in Nigeria has not fully met expectations.
He, however, identified Anambra as a strategic partner in Poland’s plans to expand university exchange programmes and research collaboration.
Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor of COOU, Kate Omenugha, said the institution is taking deliberate steps to boost its global visibility.
She expressed optimism that under the current administration, the university would secure more international partnerships to strengthen its academic profile.
