The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kebbi Sector Command, has arrested 39 vehicles for various traffic offences during an ongoing special enforcement operation across the state.
The Sector Commander, Mrs. Rukayya Zakaria, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital.
Zakaria said the operation, which commenced on July 20, targets critical traffic violations, including overloading, mixed loading, route violations, tyre-related offences and other practices that endanger the lives of road users.
She explained that the exercise, codenamed “Daidaita Lodi” and “Lodi Limit,” is being conducted simultaneously across the FRSC’s seven operational units in Kebbi State to improve compliance with road safety regulations and reduce road traffic crashes.
According to the sector commander, the enforcement exercise is being carried out in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
She noted that the operation focuses on offences such as tyre violations, road hazard violations, overloading and mixed loading, particularly the transportation of passengers and goods in the same vehicle.
Zakaria described the intervention patrol as a periodic nationwide enforcement exercise undertaken by the FRSC on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis, depending on directives from the Corps Headquarters.
She said the initiative is aimed at reinforcing compliance with traffic laws, reducing road crashes and protecting the lives of motorists and other road users.
The sector commander urged motorists to obey traffic regulations, avoid overloading and speeding, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy to enhance safety on the nation’s highways.
