The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has inaugurated a six-member Fact-Finding Committee to investigate the recent poor performances of Nigeria’s national teams, particularly the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, inaugurated the committee on Monday and charged its members to carry out the assignment with sincerity, diligence and a strong sense of national responsibility.
Gusau said the committee would investigate both the immediate and underlying factors responsible for the national teams’ recent poor outings and submit its report within two weeks.
He explained that the NFF constituted the committee based on the members’ wealth of experience and longstanding contributions to Nigerian football, expressing confidence that they would provide practical recommendations to address the challenges facing the country’s football.
The committee is chaired by Ambassador Fanny Ikhayere Amun, MON.
Other members are former Super Falcons captain and four-time Women’s Africa Cup of Nations winner, Desire Oparanozie; former Super Eagles captain and AFCON medalist, Mutiu Adepoju; former Nigeria U-20 coach and President of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Ladan Bosso; and former FIFA referee and former Head of Management Studies at the National Institute for Sports, Dr Alex Mana.
Former Nigeria international and Deputy Director in the NFF Technical Department, Nasiru Jibril, serves as Secretary.
Speaking after his inauguration, Ambassador Amun pledged that the committee would approach the assignment with the seriousness it deserves and consult stakeholders and other individuals connected with the issues under investigation.
He said the committee would also accept memoranda from members of the public as part of efforts to produce a comprehensive and credible report.
The inauguration was attended by the Director-General/CEO of the National Institute for Sports, Comrade Philip Shaibu, alongside senior officials of the NFF.
