The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), Dr Yau Idris, is leading a delegation of the Authority to the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), taking place from September 14 to 18, 2026, in Vienna, Austria.
The annual conference brings together government representatives, nuclear experts and stakeholders from across the world to discuss developments and cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology.

The gathering also provides a platform for knowledge exchange, professional engagement and discussions on strengthening nuclear safety and security, as well as the responsible application of nuclear technology to support sustainable development.

Nigeria’s delegation to the conference is headed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Dunoma Umar Ahmed.

Other members of the Nigerian delegation include Nigeria’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Austria and the International Organisations in Vienna, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, and the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), Engr. Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin Ekedegwa.
The participation of the NNRA delegation underscores Nigeria’s engagement in international efforts to promote the safe, secure and peaceful application of nuclear science and technology for national development.
