Officials of the Federal Ministry of Environment have visited the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja, to inspect the proposed site for a Rural Electrification Agency (REA) solar farm project.
The inspection was aimed at providing the ministry’s officials with first-hand information about the site and assessing its environmental conditions ahead of the proposed development.

The AAAU team from the Directorate of Physical Planning and Works (DPPW) accompanied the officials during the inspection.

During the exercise, the team assessed key environmental features of the proposed site, including vegetation, drainage patterns, surrounding land use and other factors that could be affected by the project.
The officials also held discussions on measures to minimise potential environmental impacts and ensure that appropriate safeguards are incorporated into the planning, construction and operation of the solar farm.

The inspection forms part of efforts to ensure that the proposed project complies with relevant environmental requirements and promotes sustainable development.
The university said the engagement provided an opportunity for stakeholders to work together on environmental protection and responsible project implementation.
