The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has retired seven senior officers in Zone ‘A’ after 35 years of dedicated service to the nation.
The officers were formally retired during a ceremony held at the Federal Operations Unit, FOU, Zone ‘A’ Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

Leading the retirees was the Zonal Coordinator, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, ACG Mohammed Babandede.
Others are Comptroller Gambo Aliyu of the FOU Zone ‘A’; Comptroller Hauwa Abubakar, Customs Area Controller, CAC, Lagos Free Trade Zone Command; and Comptroller Patrick Ntadi, CAC Western Marine Command.
Also retired were Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, CAC Apapa Area Command; Comptroller Olushola Akingbade, CAC Ogun II Area Command; and Comptroller Chidi Nwokori, CAC Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command.
Speaking at the ceremony, ACG Babandede expressed gratitude to colleagues, friends and family members for their support throughout his career.

He said his 35 years in the NCS were marked by challenges and achievements, noting that he was grateful to God for successfully completing his service.
ACG Babandede described the Nigeria Customs Service as his family, saying retirement would not sever his relationship with the institution.
He explained that Customs had remained his professional home throughout his career and would continue to be an important part of his life even after retirement.
Also speaking, Comptroller Chidi Nwokori said retirement was a reminder that every position and responsibility had a beginning and an end.

He urged serving officers to treat people with respect and remain conscious of the temporary nature of positions and responsibilities entrusted to them.
The ceremony featured the presentation of gifts to the retirees and the cutting of a retirement cake, as colleagues, friends and family members gathered to celebrate the officers and mark the end of their active service with the Nigeria Customs Service.
