The Federal Government has opened applications for the second cohort of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme, aimed at equipping Nigerian youth with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and national development.
The Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to human capital development, describing the initiative as a strategic intervention aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the Ministry, the programme will provide hands-on training lasting between six months and one year at accredited centres across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Participants are expected to receive a monthly stipend of ₦22,500, along with nationally recognised certification upon successful completion of the programme.
The training will cover high-demand sectors, including information and communication technology (ICT), construction, agriculture, automotive technology, creative media, fashion, cosmetology, tourism, catering, and leather works.
The Ministry also disclosed that it is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism to expand opportunities in the creative and cultural industries.
To ensure transparency and accountability, attendance will be monitored through biometric systems, with stipend payments tied to participants’ compliance.
Prospective applicants are required to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) during registration via the official application portal.
The government encouraged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the initiative, noting that the programme is designed to promote economic productivity and reduce unemployment by equipping participants with market-relevant skills.
