Sani Dutsinma
The Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsinma, Katsina State, has matriculated a total of 350 students for the 2025/2026 academic session, marking the formal admission of new candidates into the institution.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Dikko Umar Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing education and skills acquisition, noting continued investments in the sector.
The governor, who was represented by the Director of Admission Guidance & Training at the Ministry of Higher, Vocational and Technical Education, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Danmusa, described teaching as the backbone of human capital development and urged the newly matriculated students to remain focused on their studies.
He highlighted that the administration’s investments in staff training, infrastructure, and modern learning facilities have strengthened the college, adding that new academic programmes have been introduced to equip students with entrepreneurship skills and access to start-up support, with the aim of transforming graduates into job creators rather than job seekers.
He further warned students against absenteeism, stressing that any student with less than 75 percent class attendance would not be eligible to sit for semester examinations, emphasizing that attendance is mandatory and not optional.
In his remarks, the Provost of the college, Dr. Ismaila Ado Funtua, congratulated the matriculating students and described the ceremony as a covenant of discipline, integrity, and academic excellence.
He urged the students to embrace education as a tool for national development while cautioning them against social vices such as drug abuse, cultism, and examination malpractice.
Dr. Funtua further noted that matriculation is a solemn academic process that formally admits students into the institution and recognizes them as registered members of the college community.
The provost and management of the college also commended Governor Radda, alongside individuals and organizations, for their continued support toward achieving the institution’s educational objectives.
