The Kano State Government KNSG has organised a three-day special capacity-building workshop for Directors in the State Civil Service, aimed at strengthening ethical leadership, financial discipline, and accountability in governance.
The workshop, themed “Anti-Corruption, Financial Prudence, Transformational Leadership, and Ethical Values,” drew Directors from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the state.

Declaring the workshop open, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said the programme was designed as a practical guide built on key leadership pillars essential for effective public service delivery.
He noted that the focus was on discipline, performance, and accountability.
The Governor, who was represented by the Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, explained that the workshop aims to promote strategic balance and stability in governance through the application of emotional intelligence in administrative decision-making.
According to him, the capacity-building initiative is intended to equip participants with skills to manage complex relationships, balance competing interests, and demonstrate empathy qualities he described as hallmarks of transformational leadership.

Governor Yusuf reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s commitment to the principles of integrity, financial prudence, and strict fiduciary responsibility, describing them as critical benchmarks for public conduct and institutional management.
He urged participants to remain fully committed and actively engaged throughout the workshop, stressing that the programme should serve as a foundation for a new era of ethical, efficient, and high-performing governance across all state institutions.
Several papers were presented during the workshop, including “Integrity and Transparency as Guiding Principles in the New Leadership: A Reflection of Kano State Civil Service” by Malam Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa and “The Impact of Organisational Values on Institutional Strengthening as It Relates to Kano State Government” by Dr Aminu Ibrahim Gusau.
Others include “Ethical Concerns and Service Delivery in Kano State, Nigeria: The Role of Public Institutions” by Professor Mutiullah Adebayo Olasupo, and “Inculcating Financial Prudence, Anti-Corruption, Leadership and Ethical Values in Kano State” presented by the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Alhaji Sa’idu Yahaya.
