The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has concluded its 2026 Management Retreat, held under the theme “Strengthening Institutional Performance for Proactive and Risk-Informed Disaster Management.”
The three-day retreat featured intensive performance reviews, strategic reflection, and rigorous brainstorming sessions aimed at repositioning the Agency for more effective disaster management.
Participants reviewed NEMA’s activities from the previous operational year and adopted a robust, results-driven 2026 workplan aligned with the Agency’s Strategic Plan (2026–2029).
The roadmap is designed to accelerate NEMA’s transition toward a more proactive, risk-informed, and people-centred disaster management system.
The retreat also served as a strong platform for enhanced coordination, innovation, and collective planning, reinforcing national preparedness efforts and supporting the goal of building a more resilient Nigeria.
In her closing remarks, the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, commended participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions throughout the retreat.
She expressed confidence that the outcomes would strengthen institutional performance, improve operational efficiency, and position the Agency for more effective disaster preparedness, response, and recovery in the year ahead.
