The National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), in collaboration with key stakeholders, has commenced a strategic workshop on the implementation framework for the Affordable Diagnostic Medicines Facility for Malaria (ADMFm), aimed at improving access to quality malaria commodities and strengthening malaria control efforts across Nigeria.
The workshop has brought together policymakers, regulators, manufacturers, market experts, development partners, and supply chain specialists to develop a sustainable roadmap for ensuring the availability and affordability of malaria diagnostics and medicines nationwide.
Discussions at the workshop are focused on establishing a robust governance structure, defining stakeholder roles and responsibilities, strengthening engagement with manufacturers, streamlining fund-flow mechanisms, and developing practical strategies for pricing, market management, supply chain efficiency, and resource mobilisation.
Participants are also examining measures to enhance transparency, accountability, commodity availability, market sustainability, and effective monitoring and evaluation systems to support the successful implementation of malaria interventions across the country.
Through a series of technical sessions and subgroup engagements, stakeholders are collaboratively designing frameworks that will promote efficiency in the procurement, distribution, and management of malaria commodities while ensuring long-term sustainability.
The initiative underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening public-private partnerships, supporting local manufacturing, and accelerating access to quality-assured malaria diagnostics and treatment products for millions of Nigerians.
Stakeholders at the workshop expressed optimism that the implementation of the ADMFm framework would contribute significantly to reducing the burden of malaria, improving health outcomes, and advancing the country’s malaria elimination goals.
