The Northern Elders’ Political Forum has strongly condemned former Zamfara Central Senator, Kabiru Marafa, over his recent call for the United States to invade Nigeria on account of rising insecurity, describing the comment as “reckless, unpatriotic, and a threat to national stability.”
In a communiqué issued at the end of its annual meeting in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, the Forum’s National Coordinator, Malam Yusuf Abubakar, said Marafa’s remarks were not only “ridiculous” but amounted to a call for anarchy.

Abubakar said “any Nigerian, regardless of social or political status, who makes such a statement should be subjected to psychiatric evaluation to determine their mental fitness.”
He urged the Department of State Services (DSS) to immediately arrest and interrogate the former lawmaker for inciting comments capable of undermining Nigeria’s sovereignty.
The Forum also appealed to political leaders and Northern governors to prioritise collaboration in the fight against insecurity and poverty rather than politicise the region’s challenges.
It further called on security agencies to investigate politicians in Zamfara, Kebbi, and Katsina States who are allegedly sponsoring media propaganda and spreading fake news capable of heightening tension.

Abubakar commended the Federal Government for its efforts through Operation Fasan Yamma, noting that sustained intelligence-driven operations were crucial to restoring peace in the North.
He also urged traditional and religious leaders to continue praying for the nation and rejected calls for the removal of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, saying such demands were “unnecessary and counterproductive.”
