The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed reports suggesting that a court order restrains it from enforcing the tinted glass permit policy, insisting that the enforcement remains lawful and necessary in the interest of public safety.
Speaking during a media briefing at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) office, the Force Public Relations Officer clarified that no court at any time barred the police from implementing the policy.
According to him, the court order currently being circulated was widely misinterpreted, explaining that the injunction merely directed all parties to maintain the status quo, which does not translate to a suspension of enforcement activities.
He stressed that the enforcement of the tinted glass permit policy remains ongoing and in line with existing laws and regulations.
As part of the briefing, the Nigeria Police Force also paraded exhibits recovered from various criminal operations carried out across the country. The Force disclosed that seven major cases were successfully concluded, resulting in the arrest of nine suspects linked to armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, and drug-related offences.
Items recovered from the suspects include two AK-47 rifles, three pump-action rifles, two single-barrel guns, two Beretta pistols, four locally fabricated revolvers, six live cartridges, four magazines, and thirty-five rounds of live ammunition, among other exhibits.
The Force Public Relations Officer further assured Nigerians that comprehensive security measures have been put in place ahead of the forthcoming festive season to prevent any breakdown of law and order. He noted that increased patrols, enhanced surveillance, and the deployment of rapid response units are ongoing across major cities and major highways nationwide.
