The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested several suspected thieves and drug dealers in coordinated operations across the state, recovering stolen property and a large quantity of illicit drugs.
The arrests, which took place in different local government areas, are part of the Command’s sustained efforts to curb crime and criminality and ensure public safety.
In Kirikasamma Local Government Area, police operatives on December 31, 2025, intercepted a 23-year-old suspect, Mohd Yarima, of Bulanceri Village, in possession of a black Bajaj motorcycle without registration number and a bag of fertilizer suspected to have been stolen from Gayin Village.
Police investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly took the items after the motorcycle was parked in front of its owner’s residence. Further investigation is ongoing to recover additional exhibits and arrest possible receivers.
In a related development in Kazaure Local Government Area, police arrested Yahuza Garba, 46, of Yammakada Quarters, following a report of theft at the Informatics Institute, Kazaure.
Items recovered from the suspect include 50 pieces of window glass, two air conditioners and aluminium burglar proofs. The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue to identify accomplices.
Meanwhile, the Command also recorded major successes in its crackdown on drug abuse and trafficking. Coordinated operations in Gumel, Maigatari, Sara and Gujungu towns led to the arrest of five suspected drug dealers.
The suspects include Sadik Yahaya (aka Dan Dage), Musa Isiyaku (17), Dauda Yakubu (18), Auwalu Lado (20), and Habibu Abdullahi (30).
Police recovered two blocks of cannabis sativa and 2,188 assorted illicit drugs, including Diazepam, Exol, D5, Tramadol, rubber solution and other prohibited substances.
All suspects, according to the police, will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, CP Dahiru Muhammad, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and dedication, reiterating the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
He also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support crime prevention and detection efforts.
