The Kano State Government, KNSG, says it has achieved 45 percent progress in improving the education sector, despite the challenges it inherited from the previous administration.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, disclosed this after defending the ministry’s budget before the Kano State House of Assembly.
Dr. Makoda said among the achievements recorded by the government are enrollment of more than 40,000 out-of-school girls back to their classrooms, the renovation of over 2,000 classrooms, and the construction of new ones.
He added that the government has allocated 31 percent of its 2025 budget to the education sector, amounting to more than ₦400 billion, to give the ministry the needed support to complete the projects already
Dr. Makoda pointed out that, before the end of 2026, the government is set to complete 85 percent of the education projects it has planned in its effort to revive the sector.
