The Centre for Human Rights and Charity Development Association (CHRCDA) has conferred an Award of Excellence on Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Eradication, Alhaji Adamu Ali Kibiya, in recognition of their outstanding humanitarian interventions across the state.
The award was presented on Thursday at the office of the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Director General of CHRCDA, Comrade Auwal Jibril Maifada, said the honour was in appreciation of the duo’s commitment to humanitarian services aimed at improving the living standards of the people of Kano State.
Maifada noted that since the inception of the present administration, several roads have been rehabilitated, a development he said has boosted economic activities and improved vehicular and pedestrian movement across the state.
He also highlighted Governor Yusuf’s compassion towards women, children and other vulnerable groups as a major factor in the decision to honour him, stressing that the governor has continued to respond promptly to public concerns with empathy and sincerity.
According to the CHRCDA Director General, the settlement of outstanding death benefits and gratuity backlogs further reflects the governor’s considerate and people-oriented leadership style.
Maifada also commended the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs for complementing the governor’s efforts through the implementation of various humanitarian programmes in line with the objectives of the association.
In his response, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Eradication, Alhaji Adamu Ali Kibiya, expressed gratitude to CHRCDA for the recognition, describing the award as a motivation to intensify humanitarian interventions across the state.
Kibiya described Governor Yusuf as a leader of integrity whose people-centred leadership has continued to yield positive results for Kano State. He added that recognition of such efforts serves as encouragement to do more for the benefit of the people.
The commissioner assured that the ministry, in collaboration with the state government, would continue to expand humanitarian programmes, adding that the award would be formally presented to the governor.
