The Offa Local Government Area has acknowledged reports of a suspected ordnance-related incident that occurred at the Offa Yidi Praying Ground on December 25, 2025.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman,
Offa Local Government Abiola Azeez Babatunde.
The local government confirmed that the affected area has been cordoned off by security agencies to enable thorough investigations and ensure public safety.

Following the incident, the Executive Chairman of Offa Local Government, Hon. Suleiman Olatunji Omituntun, accompanied by the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Kwara State Governor, Hon. Femi Agbaje Whyte, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Offa Division, visited the site to assess the situation firsthand.
The chairman appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, while urging the public to rely solely on credible and official sources for information to prevent the spread of fear and misinformation.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Offa Local Government to the safety, security, and well-being of residents, noting that authorities are working closely with relevant security agencies until investigations are concluded.
