According to the Commissioner, the operation was launched following credible intelligence reports and complaints from members of the public regarding criminal activities in various communities.
The exercise targeted identified black spots, criminal hideouts, and drug distribution centres across the state.
Bakori revealed that the 345 suspects arrested include suspected thugs, drug dealers, and individuals found in possession of offensive weapons.
He added that all the suspects are currently undergoing investigation and will be prosecuted where sufficient evidence is established.
The Commissioner further disclosed that security operatives recovered 270 dangerous weapons, including knives, cutlasses, clubs, and other implements commonly used in violent crimes.
In addition to the weapons, police also seized large quantities of suspected illicit substances, including Cannabis Sativa, Exol tablets, and a dangerous drug mixture popularly known as “Suck and Die.”
He noted that the recoveries have significantly weakened the operational capacity of criminal groups and contributed to improving security across the state.
CP Bakori attributed the success of the operation to the sustained implementation of Operation Kukan Kura, a statewide policing initiative aimed at increasing police visibility, improving response times to distress calls, and preventing criminals from regrouping in known flashpoints.
He also highlighted the contribution of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), which has enhanced the Command’s intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities against armed violence, gang activities, and other serious crimes.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to tackling criminality, the Commissioner stated that no form of crime would be tolerated in Kano State.
He noted that available crime data and feedback from residents indicate a steady decline in criminal activities in several parts of the state due to sustained operational pressure and improved community cooperation.
The Police Commissioner commended the Kano State Government for its continued support and expressed appreciation to residents for providing useful information that has aided security operations.
He urged members of the public to continue reporting suspicious activities to the police, assuring them that all information would be treated confidentially.
Bakori also issued a stern warning to criminal elements, declaring that Kano was no longer a safe haven for those involved in violence, drug trafficking, and other unlawful activities.
