The Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB) has distributed tablets to newly deployed teachers in Smart Schools across the state, as part of efforts to strengthen digital teaching and learning.
The initiative is in line with the Kaduna State Government’s vision to modernise basic education and align it with global 21st-century standards through the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in classrooms.
The Smart School programme is supported by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with the state government.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Executive Chairman of KADSUBEB, Mubarak Mohammed, who was represented by the Director of School Services, Malam Rabiu Muhammad Idris, said the tablets would equip teachers with essential digital tools to enhance instructional delivery.
He explained that the devices are designed to provide access to digital learning materials, support effective monitoring of pupils’ academic progress, and promote innovative teaching methods that improve learning outcomes.
Mohammed urged the teachers to make optimal use of the tablets for lesson planning, classroom instruction, and continuous professional development. He also emphasised the importance of proper handling and maintenance of the devices to ensure accountability and sustainability of the initiative.
Beneficiary teachers expressed appreciation to KADSUBEB and the Kaduna State Government for the intervention, pledging to utilise the tablets effectively to improve teaching quality and increase pupil engagement in the classroom.
The Smart School initiative is widely regarded as a strategic step toward transforming basic education in Kaduna State through technology-driven learning.
