The Katsina State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has conducted a site identification and assessment exercise for a proposed intervention along the Janbango–Rahamawa–Batsari Road in Katsina metropolis.
The exercise, led by the State Project Coordinator, Alhaji Nafiu Muhammed Musa, forms part of the project’s efforts to identify priority interventions aimed at addressing environmental challenges and improving infrastructure across the state.
Speaking during the assessment, Alhaji Nafiu Muhammed Musa said the proposed intervention is designed to improve road access while tackling erosion, flooding and other forms of land degradation affecting communities along the corridor.
He explained that the site assessment marks a crucial step toward developing sustainable solutions that will protect lives, safeguard property and enhance environmental management in the area.
The State Project Coordinator conveyed the goodwill of Governor Dikko Umar Radda, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to environmental protection, infrastructure development and improving the welfare of residents through impactful projects under the Katsina ACReSAL Programme.
During the visit, the project team inspected the physical condition of the road corridor and gathered technical information that will guide the planning and implementation of the proposed intervention, subject to the necessary approvals.
Representing residents of the affected communities, Malam Bello Tanimu commended the Katsina State Government and the ACReSAL Project for considering the area for the intervention.
He said the community had long anticipated such a project, expressing optimism that it would improve accessibility, reduce environmental degradation and boost socio-economic activities in the area.
Malam Bello also assured the project team of the community’s full cooperation throughout the implementation process.
