The retreat provides a strategic platform for executive chairmen and secretaries of State Primary Healthcare Development Agencies from the four ZDLH focus states—Bauchi, Borno, Kano, and Sokoto—to engage directly with federal and state legislators.
The goal is to explore sustainable strategies for improving immunization coverage and reducing the number of zero-dose children.
Discussions centered on how legislators can facilitate improved funding, ensure timely release of immunization resources, and advocate for efficient utilization of funds.

Participants also highlighted the critical role of legislative oversight in tracking immunization investments from budget approval to implementation at healthcare facilities.
The retreat highlighted that beyond passing budgets, lawmakers must “follow the money” to ensure resources reach the communities most in need.
This, stakeholders agreed, is key to achieving equitable healthcare access and closing immunization gaps.
