A 39-year-old contract nurse working at the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research was allegedly murdered late Wednesday night by her colleague and alleged lover, police said.
The deceased, identified as Mamatha H.L., was a resident of Prag Banashankari II Stage.
The accused, Sudhakar (25), is also a nurse at the same hospital and hails from Katriguppe area.
According to police, Mamatha was found dead at her rented house around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday after the house owner noticed her lying motionless and alerted her roommate.

Preliminary investigations revealed that she was attacked with a surgical blade during an argument late Wednesday night and died on the spot.
Mamatha had been working at Jayadeva Hospital for the past four years and had moved into the rented house with a colleague about six months ago.
Police said Sudhakar and Mamatha had been in a relationship for nearly a year.
Investigators revealed that Mamatha had been pressing Sudhakar to marry her.
However, he allegedly viewed their relationship as non-committal and had no intention of marriage.
About ten days ago, Sudhakar reportedly got engaged to another woman following arrangements made by his family.
After learning about the engagement, Mamatha confronted him and demanded that he call off the alliance.
Police said Sudhakar sought time to decide, but Mamatha refused and allegedly threatened to make their relationship public.
On Wednesday night, when Mamatha’s roommate was away in her native place, Sudhakar visited the house.
A heated argument reportedly broke out, during which he allegedly attacked her.

Mamatha’s brother, Shankar H.L., later lodged a complaint with the police.
Police said Sudhakar initially attempted to divert suspicion by feigning innocence.
After Mamatha’s body was discovered, he reportedly visited her house with colleagues and urged police to “trace the real culprit.” However, his behavior raised suspicion.
CCTV footage from nearby buildings allegedly showed Sudhakar in the area late Wednesday night.
Call detail records further revealed multiple conversations between him and Mamatha on the day of the incident, including the final call shortly before her death.
During interrogation, police said Sudhakar confessed to disposing of his blood-stained clothes and Mamatha’s mobile phone in a drainage near his residence.
The items were later recovered. He has since been remanded to judicial custody as investigations continue.
While the incident has drawn widespread condemnation and sympathy for the victim’s family, observers say it also highlights the serious consequences that can arise from unresolved personal relationships, lack of accountability, and breakdowns in communication.
Authorities and social commentators stress that violence can never be justified, regardless of personal or moral disputes.
